Book Review by Larry Robinson The Titanic and Silent Cinema by Stephen Bottomore Stephen Bottomore has written an excellent book that very accurately portrays the silent cinema of the 1910 – 1915 era. Clear and concise text defines the attitudes of filmmakers and public attitude towards accurate historical filming – not only of the Olympic and Titanic but films of the open country and railroads of United States and Canada. These films were well received in North America and Europe which even contributed to the tourist industry of the early 1900’s. Today these films are valued historical images of lost ships, survivors and portrayal of a young North America.
